The floor was open for discussion:
Sheila Nixon discussed the National Show Jackets. Sheila designed an updated AIC logo that has her personal Alpine logo in the center (to be posted on the AIC page). This is the logo that was embroidered on the Steven Schack Award Jackets. The current AIC Logo did not transfer well when digitized. This logo has cost her $250.00. When the members offered to reimburse her for the digitizing of this logo, she declined and she will let the AIC use her logo for the time being, perhaps later on down the road, we can talk about reimbursing her for the art work. At the present time, she wants to continue to own this design.
Ben Rupchis (VA) was the winner of the 2006 Steven Schack Memorial Jacket. Ben worked with Sheila in the selection of a different jacket to be awarded to the youth at the National Show. He told Sheila that he liked the new style of jacket better than the ones we had been awarding. The jacket is a tan colored Carhartt Western style jacket.
Catlin Cahill, Riverside, CA, was the winner of the 2007 Steven Schack Memorial Jacket-Catlin provided a biography of her work with Alpines and some very nice pictures of her with her goats and wearing the jacket.
We are attempting to purchase Carhartt jackets for the next two years at a Carhartt Outlet in Louisville, KY. There should be some savings on the price of the jackets by buying them at the Outlet.
Sheila discussed the currently 2007 election and explained why and how it did not completely comply with the AIC Constitution and Bylaws. The terms of the Constitution were followed, but the Constitutional time lines were not. She brought all of the ballots along with the tally sheets for the club to inspect. Donna Pearce
(NY) & Warren Kennedy (CA), agreed to audit the tally of the nomination and election ballots to confirm the results of the voting.
Shari Reyna proposed that the newsletter be put on the website. She does not have time to put a paper newsletter together, but she does have time to put information and pictures on the website that people send. Shari will provide a list of benefits, which included a tremendous saving of postage and printing costs in addition to more timely information, for members on the web site. Sheila Nixon informed the membership that if we chose to accept this proposal and the possibility of downloading nomination and election ballots from the website, it would require a rewriting of the Constitution and Bylaws and a vote of the membership to accept it.
Pete Snyder moved that we have the newsletter put on the webpage and make the newsletter electronic on a 12 month trial basis. Kathy Evans seconded the motion. Motion unanimously passed.
Sheila discussed as a membership benefit and acknowledgment of the receipt of dues, that we could put the AIC logo on a patch at a cost of $3.00 each. Chris Strickland moved that 100 patches be made with the new logo at $3.00 each and that each new or renewing member receive a patch and that anyone can buy a patch for $5.00 each. Kathy Evans seconded the motion. Motion unanimously passed. Chris Strickland moved that the club authorize Sheila Nixon to have the patches made and that we authorize the funds to pay for the first 100 patches. Kathy Evans seconded the motion. Motion unanimously passed.
It was discussed that the Treasurer will keep the patches and mail to members.
Kathy Evans moved that the club only charge a *$15.00 fee for membership, the business card ad and the breeding listing which all will be on the web page. We need to provide our members with more if we are not going to have a paper newsletter. Chris Strickland seconded the motion. Motion unanimously passed.
